American Chemical Society (ACS) Enhances Researcher Experience with Integration of GetFTR into Article References
ACS is the latest publisher to integrate GetFTR at the article reference level. This means GetFTR indicators will signpost researchers to the content they are entitled to read, directly from the references at the end of ACS articles.
Navigating academic article references is a challenge faced by many researchers, often leaving them uncertain about the availability of cited works. Clicking on a reference link may lead to a dead end, creating frustration and hindering the research process. In a significant move towards improving this experience, the American Chemical Society (ACS) is pleased to announce its integration with GetFTR at the reference level.
Dianne Benham, Product Director for GetFTR, said “This integration aims to provide clarity to ACS readers regarding the availability of cited articles. Whether those articles are available through institutional subscriptions; as open access; or as freely available content; researchers will be confident they can read the articles that have been cited”.
Jeff Lang, Director of Platform Development at ACS said “As a founding partner of GetFTR, we recognize the importance of utilizing the full functionality of GetFTR. The issue of dead ends from reference links has been a longstanding concern, and this integration marks a substantial improvement for our researchers. Collaborating closely with Atypon, we are grateful for their efforts in successfully launching this service.”
Olly Rickard, Atypon Product Manager said “ACS has been a valued client for many years, and our successful collaboration with GetFTR has consistently supported many of our customers. Integrating GetFTR at the reference level is a milestone for us, allowing us to extend this valuable service to other publishers on our platform.”
ACS joins Elsevier and Wiley in providing GetFTR indicators at the reference level.
